“Mental health problems don’t define who you are. They are something you experience. You walk in the rain and you feel the rain, but, importantly, YOU ARE NOT THE RAIN.” – Matt Haig

Greetings, I’m Sarina, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at Central Valley Family Therapy. I am deeply committed to supporting individuals within my community as they navigate the complexities and challenges life presents. My professional endeavors are centered around offering assistance to both children and adults, reflecting a comprehensive approach to wellness and mental health. This dedication stems from a profound sense of compassion and a desire to share the insights and knowledge I have acquired through my educational journey and personal experiences. My expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, trauma, and various stress-related conditions. It is my privilege to contribute to the betterment of others’ lives, guiding them towards resilience and healing.

My Approach & Values

From an early age, Sarina felt a profound commitment to aiding others, a passion that has guided her professional journey. Born and raised in Fresno, California, Sarina pursued her ambition for higher education at the University of Phoenix, Fresno. There, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology with an emphasis in Business Administration, followed by a Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy in 2017. With over seven years of experience complemented by ongoing education, Sarina has dedicated herself to the mental health field.

Sarina’s primary objective in providing mental health services is to thoroughly educate her clients about their treatment options, ensuring access to the most suitable resources. She aims to prepare clients to face life’s challenges and obstacles with informed expectations and effective strategies. In each therapy session, her passion and goal are to teach coping skills, foster insight into treatment processes, motivate self-learning, and encourage client independence on an individual basis.

In her practice, Sarina has employed various therapeutic models including Structural Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Psychoanalysis. She places a special emphasis on working from a Systematic Perspective. This unique approach concentrates on the individual within the context of their relationships, acknowledging that individuals are part of larger systems like families, couples, organizations, or communities. Sarina’s approach is rooted in the understanding that personal well-being is intricately connected to the health of these broader systems.
